ART ACTION @ THE STATION – Final Artists Announced Ahead of Star-Studded Auction

The final four acclaimed artists have joined ART ACTION @ THE STATION, an auction of more than 30 works by local, national and international artists set for Thursday 18 October, at The Station in Bristol.

Organised by Creative Youth Network and Art Action for Kids, the online auction will welcome bids from the public on all of the artworks from 7.30pm on Thursday 18 October via www.artaction.co.uk. All the money raised will help to fund creative projects at The Station, Bristol's new 32,000 sq ft youth hub.

The latest four artists to donate work include British artists Copyright, Pure Evil and Dan Baldwin, and US artist Shepard Fairey. Shepard Fairey is a heavy weight in the international street art scene and the man behind the iconic Barrack Obama Hope posters used in the 2008 US presidential campaign. Shepard has given three works to the auction.

Bristol-based Copyright tackles the themes of duality, perception, religion and heartbreak within his work. Copyright said: "I was keen to donate a piece for this project because the money is going into art programmes for young people. I never thought art would end up being my career, but without support when I was young it never would have."

East End artist Pure Evil has exhibited around the world and runs the Pure Evil Gallery in London's Shoreditch. Pure Evil has donated a print of Snoopy, saying: "I saw an image of an inflatable Snoopy going past a window in New York during a parade, and I liked how it cut off most of the snoopster but it was still totally recognisable."

Dan Baldwin's work unites abstract and figurative painting, playing on themes of imagination and reality and utilising symbolism around life, death and mortality. Dan has shown his work around the world, including London, LA, Tokyo, New York and Miami, and held a number of sell-out shows.

As part of the exhibition there's been an Art Competition for young people and the winner will hang and be sold alongside the professionals at the auction. We're delighted to announce that Nave is our competition winner, a promising young stencil artist based in the South West. Competition organisers think he's an artist to look out for.
