Well done to Matt Ellis and Emma D'Alton, both from Westbury-on-Trym running club Westbury Harriers, who scooped the prizes for being the top local runners in the Bristol Half Marathon.

Matt was 21st overall in a time of 70 mins 18 secs to slice seven seconds off his personal best.

And Emma finished eighth overall and seventh British athlete in a season's best time of 79:11.

Around 9,000 people took part in the event, now in its 23rd year, with  crowds of around 20,000 lining the route to cheer competitors on. One of the official race charities this year was St Peter's Hospice in Brentry.

The event was married by the death of one runner, a man in his late 30s, who collapsed near the finish line and died at the scene, despite attempts to resuscitate him.
