To mark national Hospice Care Week, St Peter's Hospice will be opening
St Peter's Hospice
its doors through Twitter and Facebook, allowing the public to gain a unique
insight into the care that it provides. On 8 October, the Hospice will be 'live
tweeting' all day from 8am to 8pm, documenting the work which is carried out
and demonstrating a 'typical' day in the life of the Hospice.
Using the hashtag #HospiceLive, the day will feature regular updates
from the Hospice, including photos and images. Julia di Castiglione, Director
of Patient Care, said "the initiative will improve understanding and promote
greater awareness of the work carried out at the Hospice".
#HospiceLive is a ground-breaking initiative, allowing the Bristol and
wider community to see the care that St Peter's Hospice provides to so many in
the area. Followers will find out how key decisions are made, and how the needs
of patients and their families are considered.
Hospice Care Week is an annual week of activity to help raise the
profile of hospice care across the UK, with local hospice highlighting the
growing need for hospice care. The week also coincides with a global hospice
awareness day on 12 October.
People can follow the online action on Twitter (@stpetershospice,
#HospiceLive), on Facebook (St Peter's Hospice) and on the Hospice website (www.stpetershospice.org.uk).
