House hunters go ape at Harbourside

An unusual new resident has moved in at Bristol's leading waterside property development.

Taking the form of a five-foot tall silverback gorilla, the sculpture which has been named George, is part of Bristol Zoo's Wow! Gorillas initiative, in celebration of its 175th birthday this year.

George has now taken residence outside the sales and marketing suite at Crest Nicholson's Harbourside development where it is hoped he will attract visitors to award-winning waterside formerly known as Canons Marsh.

With numerous other Gorillas positioned across the city the idea is to encourage residents and tourists to see the city afresh, encouraging exploration of Bristol and all it has to offer.

In addition, by bringing together the business and arts communities in Bristol and creating a unique, mass public art event for the people of Bristol, Wow! Gorillas will also raise significant funds to support gorilla conservation projects and Bristol charity Wallace and Gromit's Grand Appeal.

The Crest Nicholson Gorilla has been designed and painted by Julia Trickey and is now on display for a 12 week period.

Susan Young, sales and marketing director for Harbourside said: "We're delighted to have our very own gorilla and to support the zoo's celebrations.

"Both the zoo and Bristol's waterside are known the world over and those who pop down to see our gorilla will also see how Harbourside has transformed this major part of Bristol into a fantastic place where people can live, work and enjoy their leisure time."
