Westbury on Trym Academy crowned the Kings of Chess

Congratulations to the Westbury on Trym Chess Team who were crowned the South Gloucestershire Primary Schools Chess Champions 2012.

The tournamnet was played out over 6 matches, with 12 players in each team. Westbury had an impressive record and they were the only team not to lose a match.

In addition to the teams success, in the one day South Gloucestershire Primary Schools Individual Competition, the team won in every age group.

Year 6 - Westbury won 1st, 2nd and 3rd places

Year 5 - Westbury won 2nd place

Year 4 - Westbury won 1st, 2nd and 3rd places

Year 3/2 - Westbury won 1st=

Westbury on Trym has a very strong chess scene within the school and is part of the Chess in Schools Urban Chess project which was generously funded by the Westbury Neighbourhood Partnership.
