Re.Localjoe.up to 48 hours ago I would have totaly agreed with you,in fact I said as much on this sight a few days ago,but i have learned that if you leave things alone,and there is a fall by a pedestrian,you are not at fault,it is "an act of God"stupid I totaly agree with you,If you put salt down,or brush the snow away you are changing the natural fall of snow and even with the best of intentions that shop keeper or householder can be held at fault and be paying out for the rest of there life,Totaly mad I know,but that ia how it is. Re : sharpshooter...I hear what you saying and I agree it is mad. This just reflects the increasing trend in this country of a compensation culture where people think there is always somebody else to blame for anything that goes wrong. The compensation culture is not in the spirit of the community where the efforts of individuals / companies / shops to improve the conditions are not appreciated. "Doing nothing" to avoid the risk of a compensation claim is not very progressive. I would hate to have an elderly person injure themselves outside my house because I failed to make an effort to make the pavement safe.
