I sure am. It really comes into its own in the summer, doesn't it?

I dont live in the village but i work there and love it during the summer especially with all the flowers around but i feel it lacks a certain something when it gets to christmas time, it doesnt have a major appeal like some other places

How dare you doubt Christmas here?! Well each to their own I suppose, but I think you are wrong.

I am merely pointing out that westbury at christmas needs a little extra something. How good would it be to have the whole of canford lane with christmas lights ? What about all the shops dressing up as characters from a christmas carol in the final week of christmas, these are the things i feel the village lacks. Tavistock has a dickensian evening where the shop owners all dress as characters from a dickens story and having been there during this period it is a wonderful sight indeed. Bere Alston a smaller village on the outskirts of Tavistock holds a victorian evening where they have stalls all lining the streets with a hog roast, roast chesnuts, mulled wine etc and the atmosphere within the village is amazing. These are the things that would set westbury apart from other areas at christmas.

Fair point Bonelessmouse. More effort could be put into making Christmas more festive here.

I live in Westbury on Trym, but pass through Henleaze on my way to work and sports club, so I usually end up stopping to get my shopping on the way past, but I would definitely go into Westbury for a speacil event.
I love the sound of all the shops dressing up as characters from A Christmas Carol and having lights all the way down Canford Lane light up.
i think a special late opening night with Christmas goodies on offer would be marvelous. There's nothing quite like the smell of roasting chestnuts and mulled wine to get people into the Christmas mood!
I live in Hillsdon Road just off Henbury Road (Hill). I think Westbury is a great lpace to live and have been here for about 5 years. I moved away from Filton. Filton was ok but felt it was time to get out. I like the local shop and was dissappointed this week when I saw the deli (opposite Somerfields (now beocming a CO-OP) closed down. We shouls, as residents, support our local shops at all costs otherwise we will lose them. I know it can be difficult at times to do this since many peopel work away or find it easier to 'nip' into Tesco on the way home. Use it or lose it!!
My wife and I moved here just over a year ago, from Patchway.
I have always loved Westbury, even before we came here permanently we used to go into the cafe regularly.
Now I got a nice little bungalow in Elmfield Road, a small garden and nice quiet neighbours - all is well.
