Would we miss BBC Radio Bristol if it came off the air?
-
Are you a BBC Radio Bristol fan?
The BBC is reportedly looking at axing all local radio output across the country, apart from breakfast and drivetime shows, in a money-saving move, with content at other times coming from BBC Radio 5 Live.
The corporation has to cut 20 per cent of its budget by 2017 – around £400 million – after agreeing to a freeze in the licence fee.
Radio Bristol only accounts for about one in 10 radio listeners in the city. It has been going for more than 40 years and currently has 38 staff.
The National Union of Journalists says local stations play a crucial role in keeping local communities informed and that the move towards national programming would be the "death knell" for local radio.
Do many people in Westbury-on-Trym tune in to Radio Bristol - or do you prefer the commercial stations?
