As most of you may know, Westbury Wildlife Park has been closed for over 20 years now. And as you can imagine, the grounds are in disrepair.

My name is Jenny and Im trying to raise money to restore the park to its formal glory!

I've been shortlisted on Star Radio's Community project for a grant of £2,500. I now need the public to vote for me to make it possible for us to start working on restoring the park.

I would love to hear that the Westbury-on-Trym community would like to see the park open again.

Please vote on the link below.

Many thanks

    Hi
I found my wife in Westbury Wildlife Park in 1976

I was a volunteer there from 1974 on and off until about 1980 I worked alongside Betty Walsh, Karen?(husband was Marmajuke and became Lord Mayor of Bristol) Helen who married David Chaffe, there was also Neal Lucas, Tony Pollack and a chap called Les and then there was the famous Simon King who popped in now and then

    Best Wishes
    Tony Cox

    Hi
This sound very exciting. Is it possible to go and see the park at all? Is there public access? Who owns it now?

I worked at the Wildlife Park from 1967- 1972. It was owned by David Chaffe. The main aim of the Park was to educate people about the wildlife of Britain. It was all British wildlife there. We gave guided tours to many school children and W. I. groups. Davids concept that the wildlife of this country is as important as any other has stayed with me over the years. David sold the park, and when the new wildlife and zoo act came in (1981 I think) they were unable to meet the criteria in the act. I believe they then set it up as a charity so members could gain access.
I hope this is of some help.
