Celebrating An Ethical Businesswoman

In fantastic news for the community, reported here, a Westbury local has won an award for being an Ethical Woman in Business.  Anne MacCaig won the award as chief executive of Cafédirect, which was the first company to produce Fairtrade coffee for UK supermarkets.

It is only right that a fanfare is made for this fantastic achievement.  While companies worldwide are cutting corners trying to find savings, it is both refreshing and exciting to hear of a company with a conscience doing well and being recognised. 

Ms MacCaig has clearly done a brilliant job selling coffee, but she has not ignored the little people, instead setting up partnerships with those who are actually growing the stuff in 13 different countries across the globe.  Her company pays above the minimum Fairtrade price for the coffee it buys, and invests more than half the profits made back into the businesses of the growers.
