Elmfield School for Deaf Children, which has sites in Westbury-on-Trym and Horfield, has received a glowing report from learning watchdog Ofsted.
Inspectors said it was a good school where pupils made good and sometimes outstanding progress.
The 33-pupil school has students on sites at Greystoke Avenue in Westbury-on-Trym and within Fairfield School. Students in the secondary department told the inspectors they felt accepted by the students at the mainstream school.
Inspector David Muir's report praised staff for their high levels of commitment and for recognising and promoting deaf culture and identity. Acting headteacher Kate Murray said: "Everyone has worked incredibly hard to maintain the high standards that Elmfield has always offered students and to build upon the hard work that staff past and present have put in.
"We are very happy to be judged as a good school with outstanding features and are already working on making all aspects of the school outstanding by the next inspection."
