Haven't seen anything on this website talking about the work SUSWOT has been doing and its plans for the future.
Who remembers the Chooseday last year? The no cars on Tuesdays challenge.
Does anyone have any stories they'd like to share regarding the choices they made on those green tuesdays; were there any nightmare stories/ great successes?
There are so many ways each and everyone person cannot cut down on their wastes and concerve energy.
Here are some tips on how to reduce this waste:
Did you know that TV screens and computer monitors left on standby use
almost as much electricity as when they are on full? Don't forget to turn off your computer and TV properly when not in use.
Leaving a light on in a room without need costs both you and the
environment. Here's how to help:
Always check that lights and fittings are clean. Dirty luminaries can
reduce lighting output by 20%. By cleaning regularly you can maintain
lighting efficiency.
Replace ordinary light bulbs with energy saving bulbs. These can last
up to 10 times longer and use 25% less energy.
Did you know that in the UK a third of all clean household water gets
flushed down the toilet? Why not consider installing a grey water
system taking water from your washing machine or bath to flush the
toilet?
Did you know that in the UK we produce enough waste daily to fill the
Albert Hall to the brim? Do your bit and reduce, re-use and recycle your wasteTry to make sure you separate your waste for recycling into: paper,
glass, aluminium cans, and food waste for composting.

Sustainable Westbury on Trym (SusWot). I absolutely agree with the light bulbs. They provide terrible reading light that actually hurts my eyes. Didn't realise that standby used so much electricity, thanks for the tip.

ReportWhat is suswot? My problem with this whole malarkey is that energy saving lightbulbs are WORSE than ordinary ones - dimmer, take time to warm up and uglier.
