People of Westbury on Trym will be able to remember all those men and women who were killed during the two World Wars and other conflicts around a cleaned-up war memorial next month.
In respect to all those that lost their lives, the stone war memorial in
the centre of the village has been cleaned and now looks a lot brighter.
The Westbury on Trym Society (WotSoT) contacted Bristol City Council in May about getting the second half of the war memorial cleaned up.
Sue Boyd, of WotSot, said: "I have nothing but praise for the council on this matter. The council responded positively and efficiently.
"I called them in May and was told that it will get done in October.
"They had it all in hand, when I called to check, and I am happy to say
that it has been done, and the scaffolding will come down, in time for the services in November."
Sue added: "People have already commented on the difference it makes, and how much they are appreciating it."
Remembrance Sunday is to be marked with a service on November 8. The service will start at the Holy Trinity Church at 9.45am, and then
proceed to the war memorial for 10.55am in time for the two minutes
silence at 11am. Cadets from 2442 Squadron will be attending.
There will also be a service on November 11 at the war memorial in the centre of the village, with Vicar Andre Hart of the Holy Trinity Church.
There will also be a Royal Berkshire Memorial Service taking place on
Sunday, November 15, at 12pm at Canford Crematorium.
All are welcome to the services.
