The food was worse than the staff, which I must say, is quite a hard target. The food was horrible. My curry was not hot and nicely spicy, just plain, dull and uninteresting. Never again will I eat here. I suggest you do the same.

I come from India and have travelled to 8 Asian countires: Pakistan, Bangladesh, Mongolia, Brunie, Sri Lanka, Laos, Bhutan and Malaysia. Throughout my experience of curry and Indian food, I have had some disgusting food, but none as bad as the British Raj. The food was stale and dry, with hints of raw spice and raw meat. I felt so sick that I left straight after my main and went to my local walk-in clinic.
The plates, and the cutlery was absolutely filfthy and I could see the previous food stains on my plate. The staff, with large hints of dullness, were about as helpful as a cabbage running the country, there was virtually no good helpfulness and the only thing they managed was not dropping my plate (though they did spill the drinks continuosly.)
I know what is and what is not good food. This was ****** shoddy and almost as dull in flavour and atmosphere as a doctors' surgery. It reminded me of street lamp painting.
DO NOT EAT AT THE BRITISH RAJ IN W-O-T!!! well unless you want to get ill!
Absoluetly terrible restaurant, i have eaten many curries this one has to go down as amongst the worst ever.Chicken undercooked(pink in centre) Sauce still had uncooked spices left bitter aftertaste , paratha really thick and tasted like gone off bread . If you value your insides do not eat here!!
After eating at this over-priced Indian, I was very ill and felt as if I had had sewer water. It was a very dull experience, with the food being so dry and dull. The usual delicious and vibrant experience of Indian food was non-existent here. Less than a half of my meal was consumed.

If you like curry don't go here!
The food served was sub-standard and as bad in quality as hospital food!
The under-cooked chicken was anemic and the size of overgrown super golfalls. A ridiculously large amount of greasy and slimy onions were used to disguise the lack of a proper portion of meat. The aloo parhata was thicker than the chicken pieces, contained hardly any aloo and tasted of stale, dry bread. The rice was drier than the cardboard lid on the box it came in and was as moist as a desert!
Overall, the food was terrible and tasted worse than state-school dinners. I was lucky not to end up in the B.R.I. after I was ill that night. If you want proper curry and care about your stomach then DO NOT EAT at the Bristish Raj!
The British Raj in Passage Road, Westbury-on-Trym, serves wonderfully tasty Indian food to eat in and takeaway. A very authentic dining experience, with friendly and helpful staff.
